and his head slumped drowsily to the earth,

Shadow sat sadly, gazing up at the sky. It'd been far too many moons since he had seen Star, his wonderful mate. His eyes teared up as he thought back to all the good times they'd shared: when they'd met.. he was such a foolish little pup.. Up to when they'd had a pup of their own.. Shadow stepped feebly to where he had last seen Star, and heavily lay down there, sniffing the earth sadly. Then, with finality in his old, tired voice.. He looked up at the stars, and said, "Goodbye.." and his head slumped drowsily to the earth, never to lift again...
